Joe Hendry explains his plan to wrestle John Cena during his WWE retirement tour

WWE via USANetwork.com

TNA star Joe Hendry is a hot commodity in pro wrestling these days, with his super catchy theme song and crossover work with WWE NXT serving as a catalyst for his rising level of popularity.

He is riding the wave for as long as it will go, and that includes calling his shot for a match against WWE legend John Cena. During a new interview on Talk is Jericho, Hendry explained how he plans to make that match happen during Cena’s WWE retirement tour in 2025:

“I can’t tell you why, but I think I’m gonna wrestle John Cena in the next year. That’s what I think’s gonna happen. I really, with my whole heart, 100 percent believe that’s gonna happen. And I don’t just think it’s like the universe is gonna give it to me. It’s my job to make that the most compelling story possible for John Cena. Can I...put myself in a position that John Cena is intrigued by that match up? And that’s on nobody else but me. So that’s what I’m gonna try and do in the next year.

...I have a world championship match at Slammiversary. I’m gonna be in the main event of Slammiversary. This is insane. I couldn’t get on a pay-per-view four months ago. And now, I’m in the main event for the world title at Slammiversary. And I’ll tell you this now...when I win the title, I’m gonna raise the title above my head, I’m gonna take the microphone, and I’m gonna say, ‘John Cena, you’ve done everything in this business. Almost everything. So if you want to cross the line...’

That’s what’s gonna happen.”

Do you hope that Hendry wins the TNA world championship at Slammiversary this weekend so that he can follow through on this plan to call out Cena? Is there any chance in hell that a crossover match between Cena and Hendry will actually happen in 2025?

Let me know what you think of Joe’s plan in the comments below, Cagesiders.
