Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Girls basketball

Century 53, Marriotts Ridge 29: The Knights improved to 4-2 with the win. Harli Hamlett and Rylee Lownsbury led the way. Hamlett finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Lownsbury was right behind her with 11 and eight. Madi Prietz had 11 points and six steals, and Hannah Duncan chipped in eight points and six steals. Lamees Bazzi led the Mustangs with 12 points.

South River 50, Leonardtown 25: Karlee Hawkins had a rare double-double of 11 rebounds and 10 steals. She also scored seven points and blocked five shots. Ryleigh Adams had a game-high 14 points for the Seahawks to go with eight rebounds and seven steals.

Pikesville 52, Catonsville 29: Courtney Jenifer had an all-around solid night with eight points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Panthers’ win. TyKeisha Hill finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while Maya Chase had nine points.

Rising Sun 56, Aberdeen 48: Nyjah Harris finished with a team-high 19 points, followed by 12 from Morgan Hargrove in the loss.

Edgewood 61, Harford Tech 19: La’Kel Davis led the Rams with 15 points on five 3-pointers. Jael Erickson finished with 13 points and three steals. Sam Donovan had 11 points, three assists and three steals. Lilly Smeltzer, meanwhile, dominated the glass with 15 rebounds to go with seven points. Edgewood’s sixth win matches its season total from a year ago.

Bel Air 54, Bo Manor 35: Paige Feick scored 17 for the Bobcats. Gabby Awuah added 11 in the win.

Fallston 39, North Harford 18: Senior Caroline Nicholson scored 14 of North Harford’s 18 points in Wednesday night’s loss.

Goretti 53, Mount de Sales 51: The Sailors were edged out, but got 19 points and 12 rebounds from Shelby Lewis. Mackenzie Conley added 16 points and a pair of steals.

Boys basketball

Parkville 67, Kenwood 60: The Knights trailed after one quarter, led by two at halftime, but built separation with a 17-11 third quarter. Four Parkville players scored in double figures led by Cam Alexander’s 16. Anthony Council scored 15, Chima Egeonu 13 and Mikko Persia 11. Austin Mbuyi led Kenwood with 23. It was Ben Thompson’s 200th win as a head coach.

Eastern Tech 65, Carver A&T 49: Matt Foley powered the Mavericks on both ends of the floor, scoring 23 points and collecting seven steals. Jericho Wondeye added 16 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists in an all-around strong night.

Perry Hall 64, Chesapeake-BC 56: Brandon Williams netted 22 points, including making all six of his free throw attempts. Seth Bittings backed him with 12 points and Alex Saulsbury scored nine.

Long Reach 70, Poly 65: The Lightning (6-1) maintained a strong start to the season as Junior Nunez scored a season-high 25 points, while Jayden Saunders had 19 points. RJ Barnes also chipped in 10 points.

Joppatowne 79, Harford Tech 63: Kishann Smith 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the Mariners over the Cobras. Damian Brooks and Kendall Pollock each scored eight points with Brooks adding three steals and Pollock handing out three assists.

Wrestling

Edgewood split a tri-meet, beating Joppatowne, 48-36, but losing to Aberdeen 45-31. For the Rams, Tyler Martin finished 2-0 with a pair of pins at 190 pounds. Kori Anthony, Cody Galbreath and Jamere Napper also recorded pins on the evening.

Rising Sun 62, Patterson Mill 18: Patterson Mill dropped to 7-4 overall on the season. Jeff Gessner, Christian Joglar and Jonathan Fletcher each got pins for the Huskies.
