No arrests made after woman found badly burned in Modesto, investigation continues

MODESTO — No arrests have been made after two people were detained when a woman was found with severe burn injuries in west Modesto on Thursday, officials said.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said the victim was located at a home along Robertson Road near Hancock Sreet.

Approximately 80% of the woman's body was burned. She was then taken to a burn center in Sacramento in critical condition. As of Friday morning, the sheriff's office said she was stable.

Investigators have not yet released any more details on the two people detained and about what led to the woman being burned.

They did say they interviewed several people at the scene and no arrests have been made as of Friday. Deputies said it's not yet known if it was accidental or intentional. 

Detectives will interview the victim when she recovers.

The sheriff's office initially said on Thursday the victim was a man.
