CHICAGO (CBS) — The remnants of Hurricane Beryl are forecast to move into the Ohio River valley and potentially send heavy rain to the Chicago area.

Tropical moisture is already streaming into the Great Lakes region ahead of the system, fueling scattered thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening, some with torrential rain.

More widespread tropical downpours are possible from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, especially in northwest Indiana.

While a small adjustment in the track of this former hurricane will mean a big change in the amount of rainfall we see locally, one to two inches of rain is currently possible in Chicagoland.
