78-year-old woman fatally struck in Brooklyn Park, police say
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Authorities in a north Twin Cities suburb say a pedestrian died after being struck late Sunday evening.
The Brooklyn Park Police Department says the deadly crash happened at West Broadway and Candlewood Drive shortly after 6 p.m.
Upon arrival, responders located the pedestrian, a 78-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the victim was struck while in a crosswalk, but they believe the motorist who struck her had a green light. They stayed at the scene and are cooperating with law enforcement.
The crash remains under investigation. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Cuc Thi Tran, of Chatsworth, California.
