He led off the first inning with a double before scoring the opening run on a Triston Casas groundout. Duran would cap his big day with a 431-foot home run off lefty Tyler Holton in the 10th, his 21st homer of the year, to extend Boston's lead to 7-4. The 27-year-old Duran has gone 9-for-20 (.450) with three home runs in his last five games. Duran went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, two doubles and two runs scored in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against Toronto. He finished 1-for-4 with a home run in the opener, which was the resumption of a June 26 game suspended by rain.
The Red Sox were swept by the Blue Jays, but Duran had a big day. He provided Boston's lone run in the afternoon's 4-1 loss before the multi-hit effort in the nightcap. Duran knocked a leadoff double in the first inning before doubling again and coming around to score in the third. The outfielder capped off his day with a two-run blast in the eighth for his 19th home run of the year.
