  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Hitting bench for series finale

Andujar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

For the first time since July 13, Andujar will head to the bench as Daz Cameron picks up a start in left field. Andujar had started and occupied the No. 2 spot in the batting order in each of the Athletics' previous 21 games, slashing .282/.322/.376 with one home run, one stolen base, seven RBI and six runs over that stretch.

  • Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Back on bench Sunday

Hernaiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Hernaiz had started in each of the last three games, but he'll likely move back into more of a utility role after Seth Brown returned from the paternity list Saturday. In Sunday's series finale, the Athletics will roll out an infield of Brown at first base, Zack Gelof at second base, Max Schuemann at shortstop and Abraham Toro at third base, and that will likely be the team's preferred configuration against right-handed pitching going forward.

  • Athletics' Kyle McCann: Checking into starting nine Sunday

McCann will start at catcher and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

With top backstop Shea Langeliers getting a breather for the series finale, McCann will step in behind the dish Sunday, catching for starting pitcher JP Sears. McCann has appeared in four games since the All-Star break, going 2-for-13 with seven strikeouts.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Resting up Sunday

Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Langeliers will get a breather for the series finale after he starred in Saturday's 1-0 win, going 4-for-4 with four singles. Kyle McCann will spell Langeliers behind the plate.

  • Athletics' Dany Jimenez: Another successful rehab appearance

Jimenez (oblique) fired a scoreless, hitless seventh inning during Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Sacramento on Saturday, allowing a walk and recording a strikeout.

Jimenez put together a scoreless frame for the second time in as many rehab appearances, working up to 15 pitches Saturday. The right-hander appears to have tolerated his first two minor-league outings well thus far, so he may only need one more, if that, before being deemed ready for activation.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Four-hit game in win

Langeliers went 4-for-4 in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Langeliers accomplished the rare feat of an all-singles, four-hit performance in a game where his team still managed to score only one run. It was the 15th multi-hit effort of the season for Langeliers, who had been mired in a 2-for-24 skid across the previous seven games. The backstop's .217 average and .278 on-base percentage this season both have plenty of room for improvement, but Langeliers' .445 slugging percentage and .723 OPS are both career highs.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Provides only offense in win

Rooker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Rooker provided the game's only run in the sixth inning when he hit a ball that was originally ruled a double but overturned to a solo home run upon review. The 29-year-old continues to mash, as he tallied his third long ball in eight August contests after going yard 11 times in July. On the season, his 29 home runs place him in a tie for seventh in the majors with Gunnar Henderson, while he ranks eighth in RBI with 82.

  • Athletics' Mason Miller: Strikes out three for 17th save

Miller earned the save in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Blue Jays, walking one and striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.

Miller was summoned to protect a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning and did so without allowing the Blue Jays to put a ball in play, touching 103 mph on his fastball and generating five swinging strikes on 18 pitches. The 25-year-old has converted both his save attempts since returning from the injured list due to a finger injury and owns a 2.11 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 73:15 K:BB across 42.2 innings this season.

  • Athletics' Armando Alvarez: Headed back to Vegas

The Athletics optioned Alvarez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

  • Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Slugs first big-league homer

Hernaiz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Blue Jays on Friday.

The rookie accounted for the Athletics' only run of the game with his 391-foot shot to left center in the third inning, his first big-league homer. Friday's start was the fourth in six games for Hernaiz since returning from the 60-day injured list, and he's now hit safely in two of the last three contests. However, Friday's blast was the first extra-base hit of his career as well, and he's still limping along with a .188 average and .472 OPS across 90 plate appearances this season.

  • Athletics' Seth Brown: Back from paternity leave

The Athletics reinstated Brown from the paternity list Saturday.

Brown will rejoin the A's after spending three days away from the team, which will cause Armando Alvarez to head back to Triple-A Las Vegas. The 32-year-old Brown has slashed .255/.300/.468 with three homers and five RBI in 50 plate appearances since the All-Star break.
