  • Phillies' Aaron Nola: Yields two homers in loss

Nola (11-6) allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.

Nola yielded multiple homers for the sixth time this season and has now given up nine long balls over his last eight starts. He's lost his last two outings and hasn't won in five starts, giving up 15 runs (14 earned) over 27.2 innings in the longer span. For the season, Nola has pitched to a 3.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 138:37 K:BB through 147.1 innings over 24 starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Nationals.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Resting Saturday

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

After catching four consecutive games, Realmuto will give way to Garrett Stubbs behind the dish Saturday. During that four-game stretch, Realmuto went 2-for-15 with a double and a solo homer.

  • Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Allows two runs in no-decision

Wheeler did not factor into the decision in Friday's 3-2 loss to Arizona, yielding two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

Out of the seven hits the veteran right-hander allowed, only one went for extra bases -- a 393-foot solo homer by Joc Pederson in the third inning. With this 100-pitch outing, Wheeler collected his 17th quality start of the season and posted his sixth consecutive start with six or more punchouts. Over those six appearances, he has pitched to a 2.92 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB across 37 innings, despite coughing up seven runs July 29 against the Yankees. The 34-year-old lines up to make his next start against the Nationals at home next week.

  • Phillies' Taijuan Walker: Set for Tuesday return

Walker (finger) will be reinstated from the injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Walker hasn't pitched for the Phillies since June 23 due to inflammation in his right index finger but is slated to return to the rotation Tuesday. The 31-year-old struggled in his first rehab start, allowing three runs (two earned) in 2.2 innings but rebounded by yielding one run on two hits across five innings. Both outings were with Double-A Reading, and Walker threw 60 pitches in the second start. Before the injury, Walker logged a 5.60 ERA across 53.0 innings.

  • Phillies' Darick Hall: Removed from 40-man roster

The Phillies designated Hall for assignment Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

It's been clear for a while the Hall didn't have much of a future in Philadelphia, and he's now off the 40-man roster with the Phillies needing the spot for someone else. The 29-year-old has just a .726 OPS this season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but he's put up some big numbers in the minors in the past, so there could be interest from a team with more of a need at first base or designated hitter.

  • Phillies' Max Castillo: Dumped from 40-man roster

The Phillies designated Castillo for assignment Friday.

The 25-year-old was sent to Triple-A Lehigh Valley late in spring training after being claimed off waivers from the Red Sox, but he's now been jettisoned from the Phillies' 40-man roster. Castillo struggled to an 8.37 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 37:24 K:BB over 42 innings (10 starts) at Triple-A.

  • Phillies' Max Lazar: Joins big club

The Phillies selected Lazar's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

The 25-year-old will join Philadelphia for his first look in the big leagues, taking the roster spot of Kolby Allard, who was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Lazar has pitched well for Lehigh Valley this season with 10 saves and a 2.40 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB across 30 innings.

  • Phillies' Kolby Allard: Optioned to Triple-A

The Phillies optioned Allard to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Allard made two starts and one bulk relief appearance, posting a 3.46 ERA and 8:2 K:BB over 13 innings. With Taijuan Walker (finger) poised to return next week, Allard wasn't going to be needed as a rotation fill-in anymore.

  • Phillies' Cal Stevenson: Contract selected by Philly

The Phillies selected Stevenson's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Giants in late May but was designated for assignment before receiving a look in the big leagues. Stevenson has spent the past two months at Lehigh Valley, where he has a .304/.419/.484 slash line with seven homers and 27 steals in 90 games. He'll provide outfield depth as Austin Hays (hamstring) heads to the injured list.

  • Phillies' Austin Hays: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

The Phillies placed Hays on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Hays suffered the injury in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers and hasn't made enough progress to avoid the IL. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. While Hays is out, the Phillies figure to go with Brandon Marsh in left field and Johan Rojas in center field most days.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Homer, two hits in win

Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Realmuto crushed a 430-foot home run to lead off the seventh inning and extend Philadelphia's lead to two runs. The backstop would add a leadoff double in the ninth before coming around to score a second time, marking his first game with multiple runs since May 22. The long ball was also his first since May 23, ending a 22-game drought, but he's batting just .167 (4-for-24) in August even after the two-hit effort. On a positive note, Realmuto has driven in a run in three of his last four contests.

  • Phillies' Carlos Estevez: Records first save with Philly

Estevez picked up the save over the Diamondbacks on Thursday, allowing one run on two hits over one inning while striking out two.

Estevez entered the game with a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning and surrendered a leadoff single to Geraldo Perdomo before fanning the next two batters. The recently acquired reliever would then cough up an RBI single to Jake McCarthy, but Estevez went on to retire the final batter for his 22nd save of the season and his first in a Phillies uniform. It marked the first earned run charged to Estevez since May 20 when he was still an Angel, and he's recorded at least one strikeout in each of his last four appearances.

  • Phillies' Kolby Allard: Solid outing in first win

Allard (1-0) picked up the win over Arizona on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits over five innings while striking out three. He did not issue any walks.

Allard managed to keep the Diamondbacks off the board through the first four innings, allowing just three singles before surrendering a solo homer to Eugenio Suarez with one out in the fifth. The 26-year-old lefty would end up making it through the frame to post his longest outing of the campaign, while also going on to secure his first win. Allard has held opponents to three or fewer runs in each of his two starts and holds a 8:2 K:BB as he plugs a hole in the Phillies' rotation while Ranger Suarez (back) and Taijuan Walker (finger) are sidelined.

  • Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Throws bullpen session

Suarez (back) threw a 36-pitch bullpen session Thursday, Lochlann March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Suarez has been out since July 27 due to lower-back soreness, but he has been making steady progress in his recovery. Manager Rob Thomson described Thursday's session as having gone "extremely well," but the left-hander isn't expected to be ready to return until after the team's upcoming homestand ending Aug. 18. The next step in the recovery process for Suarez will be throwing live batting practice, while he could also be sent on a rehab assignment.
