  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Scores game-high 26 points

Wembanyama scored 26 points (11-19 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT) while adding seven rebounds, two assists and a steal across 30 minutes in Saturday's 98-87 loss to USA in the gold medal game.

Wembanyama had tough matchups throughout the game, and while the French team couldn't win the gold medal, the 20-year-old had a strong showing in the final game of the tournament. Wembanyama will rest for a few weeks before preparing for the start of the 2024-25 NBA season with the Spurs.

  • Spurs' Brandon Boston: Joins San Antonio for camp

Boston signed with the Spurs on Friday, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.

Boston became an unrestricted free agent after the Clippers didn't tender him a $2.48 million qualifying offer at the end of June. After appearing in 51 regular-season games as a rookie in 2021, Boston saw a reduced role in his subsequent two campaigns with the Clippers. Entering his age-23 season, Boston is still a young prospect with room to grow, but he'll have an uphill battle to make the Spurs' initial regular-season roster.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Overcomes poor shooting in victory

Wembanyama posted 11 points (4-17 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks across 32 minutes during Thursday's 73-69 semifinal victory over Germany.

Wembanyama unsurprisingly made several highlight plays, but he struggled from beyond the arc despite many of his looks being wide open. However, he was able to contribute as a passer, rebounder and defensive presence. It was enough, and France now goes to the gold medal game.

  • Spurs' Malachi Flynn: Gets one-year deal with San Antonio

Flynn and the Spurs agreed to a one-year deal Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The Pistons didn't extend Flynn a $5.81 million qualifying offer at the end of June, making him an unrestricted free agent. Despite dropping 50 points off Detroit's bench against the Hawks on April 3, Flynn finished the 2023-24 season with averages of 5.5 points, 1.9 assists and 1.7 rebounds across 12.7 minutes in 69 games split between Toronto, New York and Detroit. Flynn will look to compete for a spot in San Antonio's backcourt, which added Stephon Castle and Chris Paul this offseason to a group that already consisted of Tre Jones, Devin Vassell and Malaki Branham.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Double-doubles in Olympic loss

Wembanyama delivered 14 points (5-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block in Friday's 85-71 loss to Germany.

This was Wembanyama's second consecutive double-double in the Olympics, and he continues to be an absolute threat on both ends of the court for Les Bleus. This was also his third straight game with multiple steals. While the 14-point output was his lowest of the competition, Wembanyama does enough in other categories to remain an excellent fantasy option in all formats.

  • Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Salary becomes fully guaranteed

Champagnie's $3 million salary for the 2024-25 season has been fully guaranteed, according to Michael Scotto of USA Today.

This move does nothing but solidify Champagnie's roster status for the 2024-25 campaign with the Spurs, though he's likely to play a role off the bench instead of being a starter based on the influx of talent the franchise added during the offseason. Champagnie started 59 of 74 games played for the Spurs and shot 36.5 percent from three-point range during the 2023-24 season.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Leads France to Olympic win

Wembanyama posted 18 points (6-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals across 31 minutes in France's 94-90 overtime win over Japan in the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

Wembanyama proved his role as the clear No. 1 option for France, scoring a team-high 18 points, with eight of those points coming in overtime. The 20-year-old continued his elite two-way play Tuesday, and through two group-phase games, he has already racked up six steals and five blocks. Wembanyama has also accumulated 37 points and 20 rebounds across that two-game span, and his efficiency from deep against Japan was a welcome sight after he went 1-for-4 against Brazil on Saturday. The young star will hope to bring France to the podium, and the squad has the talent to do so with Rudy Gobert, Nicolas Batum and Evan Fournier alongside Wembanyama.

Wembanyama's Olympic debut did not disappoint as he displayed his elite two-way abilities in Saturday's win. The 20-year-old will undoubtedly be a focal point for France, and he will hope to take the squad on a successful Olympic run alongside Rudy Gobert and Nicolas Batum. Wembanyama is coming off a stellar rookie season, during which he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals across 29.7 minutes.

Wembanyama missed France's previous exhibition versus Germany on July 8 but returned to action a few days later. While Nikola Jokic got the better of Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert in the tune-up game, France's fearsome frontcourt is expected to wreak havoc at the Paris Olympics in late July.
