Welcome to Boston, Baylor Scheierman! Here's Where The Nearest Dunkin Is...

Congratulations to Creighton's Baylor Scheierman on being drafted by Boston at #30! Props to you for already demonstrating a grasp of key Celtics values by spending the draft with your family.

As you make your way to Boston to meet the insane mob, er, Celtics faithful and the press, here are a few quick notes to make your acclimation a little easier:

  • Yes, they all drive like that. All the time.
  • Take some time to bone up on Celtics lore. Not just the banners and people like Red, Russell, Cousy, Tommy, Hondo, JoJo White, Bird, Parrish, KG, the Truth, and the Jays, but guys all throughout Celtics history: Satch Sanders, Johnny Most, Gerald Henderson, Danny Ainge (the player), Dee Brown, Rick Pitino, Danny Ainge (the exec), Al Jefferson, Kelly Olynik, and Mike Gorman, as well.
  • Get ready to be low man in the pecking order. Not just behind the starters or the high usage bench guys. Behind Jordan Walsh and Drew Peterson, too. Nothing personal, just that Coach Mazzulla doesn't seem to believe in skipping folks to the front of the line. Learn, play smart, execute, lather, rinse, repeat.
  • Learn where the Dunkin shops are and bring donuts to practice. It won't move you ahead faster, but it donuts and coffee always make for a good first impression.
Again, welcome to the Celtics (at least I don't think Brad has traded you, yet) and the NBA! Get ready for the fun!
