Gel Blasters are essentially the safer alternative to AirSoft firearms popular in the USA and UK that are used in recreational sports (similar to paintball). 

As a result of New York’s strict gun laws, AirSoft weapons that fire non-metallic ball bearing projectiles are illegal as they can pose a moderate threat to human life if used on a given person excessively without proper safety apparel.

Fair enough right?

Gel blasters fire much less harmful "gel balls" which are polymer water beads typically made from Sodium Polyacrylate (a non-toxic, and biodegradable compound).

In detail, the gel balls are submerged in water which "primes" them for use as a projectile. That might I add have less of an impact force than various "nerf guns" and pressurized water guns.

However, despite the extremely low-risk gel blasters, the New York State Government and they alone (gel blasters legal in all other states and territories) have deemed the toy firearms as illegal. So illegal that the police have nothing better to do than seize almost  harmless gel blasters from owners in New York City and the surrounding area.

I believe this is quite a drastic measure considering "Nerf Guns" and pressurized water guns pose much more of a threat than gel blasters and are legal within the territory without too many restrictions.

Gel blasters have been adopted as the main recreational use for ages 14+ . The city streets have been filled with joy & the kids are being kids again. With the help of neighbors and local community leaders we will implement the safety and proper use of the toy. Distributing safety goggles and protective gear to the kids and those involved .

The game will be recognized as an actual stopping curve to the crime and gun violence that plagues New York City.  This has brought peace between to some of the most dangerous neighborhoods and misguided youth with crowds chanting “put the real guns down” 

 So, Please consider signing our petition so that the NYS government can recognise the futility of their imposed moratorium on gel blaster firearms because I and many others just want to have some fun and bring peace and happiness to the youth of our community.
