President Joe Biden sat down last week with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos amid widespread criticism over his debate performance against former President Donald Trump that some critics described as "dismal."

Biden has since faced calls for him to step aside as the presumptive 2024 Democratic nominee, though he issued a letter on Monday asserting his intention to remain in the race.

More than 51 million people tuned in to watch the unusually timed June debate last week, according to the Nielsen company.
