CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. isn’t the top Browns cornerback, but he’s such a key element to the formula of success.
The 2023 season was his second pro season, and he’s only getting better. So much so, that he has become their best kept secret.

Emerson really came on during his rookie season in 2022, recording nine tackles in a midseason matchup versus Cincinnati. Since then, he’s been like the energizer bunny who’s aggressive man to man coverage is really effective.
Along with his 59 tackles, he tied for ninth in passes defended (14), and tied for seventh in interceptions with four, two of which came in the Week 14 win over Jacksonville.
According to Pro Football Focus, Emerson ranked 64th among cornerbacks in overall defensive grading (65.8) tied for 63rd in coverage (66.5), and 115th in tackling (40.6).
