MEDINA, Ohio -- Medina County will be full of arts activities presented by local art groups and artists starting Monday, July 11, and running all week, until Saturday, July 16. It is the ideal week in Medina County to be able to enjoy a wide variety of free and delightful local entertainment at many venues all over the county.
Known as the Arts Council's "Arts Week Festival," this week traditionally serves as a lead-up to the ending event - Sunday's Art in the Park, the major art show and sale sponsored by The Medina County Art League on Sunday, July 17, on Medina Square.
The Arts Week Festival has been sponsored and promoted by The Medina County Arts Council for 31 years, and has been partially supported in recent years by grants from The Ohio Arts Council and The Medina County Community Fund.
The wide variety of free arts programs have been organized by the Arts Council's Arts Week Committee. The committee includes: Sue Becks, Jill Morton, Dan Hostetler, Linda Loveless and Suzanne Swain. At Arts Council performances, a trustee or member will be present to introduce the musicians and artists.
As in the past, the committee has organized the programs to be presented by local artists and entertainers for children and adults on Medina's Public Square and in Brunswick at the Community Recreation Center or the Library. The lunchtime performances are designed to provide entertainment and learning in the arts for children. The evening concerts are focused on adult and family audiences. Additional evening concerts are scheduled on various evenings at Sharon Center Circle, at Mill Stream Park in Valley City and in Wadsworth.
An additional attraction this year is a display of art work by county art teachers and others that will be hanging at this time in the third floor gallery of the Medina Library just off the Medina Square on South Broadway. Additional events occurring this same week are sponsored by other local arts organizations. such as the regular Medina Community Band Concert on July 15 on Medina's Public Square.
