BRUNSWICK, Ohio - The big red barn was alive with the sound of music on Sunday. Visitors and vendors at the Brunswick Farmers Market were treated to a special concert by a group of local musicians who regularly perform at a local church.

Leon Hamrick and Willie Goodson of Brunswick along with Justine Garrett and Glenn and Gerry Westfall of Elyria played and sang a mixture of bluegrass, country and gospel for delighted shoppers between noon and 2 p.m. Sunday, the regular open mic time at Heritage Farm. This coming Sunday, Brian Lisik, singer, guitar player and songwriter will be performing - as well as any other musicians who would like to join in.

Hamrick and friends also play from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Brunswick Church of the Nazarene, 3965 Center Road. The public is always welcome.

The tradition of music at the farm was begun by Darrell Hudson, a musician and member of the board of directors of the Brunswick Area Historical Society. He has regularly asked area musicians to come to the farm, 4613 Laurel Road, and the idea has been embraced by everyone who attends. Hudson is also active in the Hudson-Wise Foundation for God's Special Children and that group is often seen Wednesday evenings at the Brunswick Winking Lizard.
