BRUNSWICK, Ohio - Have you ever seen ice cream made with a steam engine? Have you ever tasted pear or orange cider?

These plus thousands of pumpkins, food trucks, more than 130 vendors and lots of free activities are planned for the third annual Country Pumpkin Festival at Heritage Farm, 4613 Laurel Road, home to the Brunswick Area Historical Society.

Event Coordinator, Benjamin Mihalek, has planned a giant-sized event for Heritage Farm from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 15 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 16.

With free parking and free activities for children including face painting, crafts and hayrides. Let the kids choose a pumpkin from the huge assortment - none priced over $5.

Enjoy a cup of chili in the big red barn, take a look at the buildings filled with artifacts from Brunswick's farming heritage and, between noon and 2 p.m., tour the farmhouse museum.

"From bubble soccer to old-fashioned lemonade, dozens of flavored popcorn and other tasty treats, lighted pumpkins and the teal pumpkin project, you'll find everything that your fall hearts desire at the Pumpkin Festival," Mihalek said. "You can buy a ticket to win a handmade quilt or a basket filled with goodies provided by vendors and friends of the farm. You can even buy your Christmas ornaments and there are hundreds of great gift choices."

The festival wraps up the farmers market season at the farm, all meant to help the Historical Society continue its work to keep Brunswick's history alive for future generations.

The money raised will go toward this year's project of renovating the chicken coop, which still has all of its original nesting boxes and equipment even though it hasn't been used for a very long time.

Another new project will be raising money to go toward the longer term project of getting a log cabin moved to the farm. All money raised from the cider station will go toward that effort. You can see a picture of the cabin at the station over the weekend.

The festival follows the Fall Foliage Tour weekend at the farm -- making it a very busy time for Historical Society members.
