Police follow crash debris to suspect's home: Brunswick Hills Township Police Blotter

BRUNSWICK HILLS TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Hit/skip, Substation Road: Police responded to a report of a two-car hit-skip accident at 6:37 p.m. Nov. 17 in front of 103 Substation Road. Both cars were heavily damaged.

Police followed scrapes left on the roadway by the fleeing car to a residence on Pebble Creek Pass, where debris from the car was also found in the driveway. There was no answer at the door, but police made entry into the home, concerned that the driver might have been injured.

The suspect was found sleeping and was later cited for operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The car was found in the garage with heavy front-end damage and a flattened tire that had shredded from the rim.

Drug possession, Boston Road: A driver was pulled over at 9:32 p.m. Nov. 14 for traveling 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer smelled marijuana inside the car, and the driver admitted to having recently smoked pot. She directed police to a bag in her center console that contained marijuana.

She was cited for having an expired license and for marijuana possession. She was given a warning for speeding and drug paraphernalia possession.

Property damage, Substation Road: A resident called police at 4:14 p.m. Nov. 20 to report damage to a door at his house. The resident said someone had tried to force open the door sometime between Nov. 16 and the date of the report. Police noted that the door was locked, but that the door frame showed signs of the attempted break-in, including cracked molding around the door.
