Appearances do matter. After receiving a complaint June 23 that a dog appeared to be unkept and disheveled, Russell Township police investigated. Officers met with the dog owner who verified that the dog is an outdoor barn dog and is well kept as such. The officer checked on the dog and determined it appeared to be in good health.

Police rescue ducklings stuck in a street storm sewer: Bainbridge Township police blotter
Honk if you see ducks. An officer on patrol 7:50 a.m. June 8 encountered an adult duck sitting in the road on Tanglewood Trail. It would not move so the officer got out of the patrol car to investigate. He soon found that her ducklings had been swept into a storm drain and could not get out. The officer tried to lift the grate, but it was too heavy. After calling for backup, the officers were able to lift the grate and rescue the waddling brood.
