CLEVELAND, Ohio – Leaders of the Ohio Restaurant Association told a Cleveland City Council panel Monday that limiting the fees delivery services charge during the coronavirus pandemic could be the difference between restaurants surviving and failing.

Profit margins for independent restaurants average 6% to 7%, said John Barker, president of the Ohio Restaurant Association. Yet the delivery services have surcharges running as high as 30%, which can eliminate profit altogether.
