MEDINA, Ohio – Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out Alexandris. Here’s a look at what to expect:
Location + hours: 2835 Medina Road, Medina, 330-722-4139. Open seven days. Weekend hours: 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
Menu or buffet? Menu.
About the place: It's a down-home, comfortable place, not fancy at all with lightning-quick service. Spacious dining room, parking lot. It's at the northeast corner of Interstate-71 and Ohio 18. It's very close to the Medina Antique Mall.
About the menu: Everything is under $10 except a couple of steak dishes, which is pretty good considering there are more than 60 offerings (specials, kids menu, wraps, fast and easy, sandwiches and scrambles, pancakes and waffles, skillets and more). The ham is delicious and not salty. Sausage gravy is offered with or without cheese (there's a time and place for cheese, and our vote is no cheese on the gravy). The mild gravy was tangy. Potatoes were very fresh, fluffy, and not greasy. The menu really is all about choices. We tried the Eye Opener - two eggs your way, home fries, side of meat, biscuit and sausage. A hearty start. The Our Breakfast Croissant was very light with two scrambled eggs, choice of meat and home fries, grits or fruit.
About the drinks: Wasn't wild about the coffee - seemed a bit stale on our visit - but the tea pot is very large.
