Woman pleads guilty to killing, dismembering husband in Coventry Township home

AKRON, Ohio -- A Coventry Township woman pleaded guilty Friday to killing and dismembering her husband of 25 years.

Marcia Eubank, 50, pleaded guilty to murder with a firearm specification, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse, the Summit County prosecutor’s office said in a press release.

She had also been charged in Summit County Court of Common Pleas with aggravated murder. The charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement that was approved by all parties, including the investigators and the victim’s family, the prosecutor’s office said.

Eubank shot 54-year-old Howard Eubank in the head June 13, 2017, before she cut him up and placed his remains in storage bins throughout the home, court records show.

Howard Eubank’s son found the remains Dec. 9, 2017, at his parents' home on Linda Drive when he forgot his keys and climbed into a window to get into the house. He found a crate covered in maggots and flies and took it outside, police said.

The son texted Marcia Eubank, who admitted to killing Howard Eubank and dismembering his body, the son said in a 911 recording released by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators arrested Marcia Eubank later that day in a parking lot outside a nearby business.

Summit County Common Pleas Judge Kelly McLaughlin is scheduled to sentence Eubank Feb. 8.
