AKRON, Ohio -- A gunman shot three people Thursday morning at a barbershop in Akron's Highland Square neighborhood, according to several reports.

Lt. Rick Edwards told WKYC that the shooting happened shortly before 11 a.m. at RP's Blade Academy on West Exchange Street.

No arrests have been made in the shooting that Edwards said does not appear to be a robbery.

WEWS reported one man was shot in the arm, another was shot in the foot. It also reported the third man was shot in the torso twice. He suffered serious injuries.

WKYC said two of the men were taken to Akron General Hospital while the other one went to Akron City Hospital.

Fox 8 News said the barbershop was packed at the time of the shooting.

Northeast Ohio has been the site of two other high-profile barbershop shootings within the past two years.

Charles Davis was killed and another person injured in November at the Skills Barbershop on Turney Road in Garfield Heights. No arrests were made in that killing.

A jury recently recommended that Douglas Shine be sentenced to death in the February 2015 mass shooting at the Chalk Linez barbershop in Warrensville Heights.

Three died in the case that prosecutors and police connected to a spate of violence involving rival street gangs. The case saw one witness who survived an encounter with Shine at the barbershop killed in the driveway of a home.
