Cleveland police arrest man suspected in West Side bank robbery

Robbery at Key Bank in Kamm's Corners

Cleveland police arrested a man Sunday in connection with a Saturday morning bank robbery in the city's Kamm's Corners neighborhood.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A man suspected in at least one bank robbery on Cleveland’s West Side in the past two days has been arrested, police said Sunday.

The man was taken into custody on Rocky River Drive in Cleveland after patrol officers noticed a suspicious white van that was likely used in the Saturday afternoon bank robbery, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

Court records show that no charges have been filed in the case. The man does not have any current or past criminal cases in Cuyahoga County, records show.

Cleveland police believe the man is responsible for robbing a Key Bank on the 17100 block of Lorain Avenue in Cleveland Kamm’s Corners neighborhood about 11:20 a.m. Saturday. The robber passed a note to the teller that said, “I have a gun and will shoot you,” FBI spokeswoman Vicki Anderson said in a news release.

A bank was robbed on Friday in Cleveland’s Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood in a similar fashion, authorities say, and Anderson said that it appears that both robberies were committed by the same individual.

This post will be updated if additional information about the bank robbery arrest is released Sunday.
