Officers and firefighters responded about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for a call about a pedestrian struck by a truck at Detroit Road and Hamlet Lane, police said in a press release.

Despite passersby, officers and paramedics administering first aid to the woman who was hit, she died at the scene, police said.

The victim was identified as Rita Louise Vargo, of Oakland, California, according to police.

Both the driver of the Ford bucket truck and his employer, Spectrum, are cooperating with the investigation, police said.
