Cleveland police: Woman shoots man in stomach at gas station, crashes vehicle while trying to drive him to hospital

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A woman was arrested Saturday after she was accused of shooting a man at a gas station on the city’s East Side and then crashing her car while trying to drive the man to the hospital, Cleveland police say.

Cleveland police officers responded about 6 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Osceola and Lakeview avenues in the city’s Glenville neighborhood and found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the stomach, department spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

Officers learned that the shooting happened at a gas station at the intersection of East 123rd Street and St. Clair Avenue, Ciaccia said. The 26-year-old man was shot by a woman, who then tried to take him to the hospital following the shooting, police say. Another man at the gas station was struck by a bullet to his arm while pumping gas.

The woman crashed her vehicle while en route to the hospital, Ciaccia said. She was arrested, but her name was not released. It’s unclear if formal charges have been filed in the shooting.

It’s also unclear how the man and the accused female shooter know each other, if at all.
