Suspect in fatal shootings in Euclid, Cleveland arrested by federal authorities

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man wanted in connection with two fatal shootings in Cleveland was taken into custody Wednesday morning by federal authorities.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Lavadus Morris, 20, on the 4100 block of Woodbridge Avenue in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood on the West Side, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Morris was wanted by police in Cleveland and Euclid.

In Cleveland, Morris is a suspect in the fatal shooting 29-year-old Terez Avery of Canton on June 22.

Police said Avery was at AJ’s Deli and Drive Thru near East 103rd Street and St. Clair Avenue at about 11:20 a.m. when he got into an argument with Morris in the parking lot. Morris is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting Avery in the chest, police said.

Morris also is accused of killing Ty’Wan Johnson, 20, of Willowick, on Sept. 24, 2022, in Euclid. No details were available Wednesday night on the shooting of Johnson.
