LAKEWOOD, Ohio - One of the largest houses in Lakewood went for $1.7 million last month in the most expensive Cuyahoga County sheriff's sale in five years.
The lakefront home was one of six homes countywide that went for at least $1 million in May.
The Lakewood mansion was acquired in a sheriff's sale by lien holder J.P. Morgan Chase Bank for $1,666,667. The previous owner had paid $3.9 million for the property in 2007.
The Edgewater Drive home measures 10,897 square feet, county records say. It has six bedrooms, eight full baths, two half-baths and an eight-car garage.
A cleveland.com search of county property records back to 2007 found just two sheriff's sales for homes in excess of $1.7 million - a $1.9 million deal for a Bay Village home in 2011 and a $2.4 million purchase of a Gates Mills home in 2007.
Among all transactions for single-family homes and condos last month, the top price was for a Lake Road home in Bay Village. The 8,842-square-foot property went for $1,969,000.
Other deals topping $1 million in May were for an Avalon Drive home in Rocky River ($1.5 million), an Eaton Road home in Shaker Heights ($1.5 million), a Cliff Drive home in Bay Village ($1.4 million) and a Glenridge Court home in Bentleyville ($1.2 million).
