AKRON, Ohio -- Rick Armon of the Akron Beacon Journal and I recently sampled 18 Christmas Ales from Northeast Ohio brewers. They come in a variety of spices and flavors. Today: Ohio Brewing Co.'s Jingle Bell Ale.

We'll feature them one by one Monday though Friday through Dec. 24. Consider this the holiday beer tour of December:

Beer: Jingle Bell Ale.

Brewery: Ohio Brewing Co. via Rust Belt Brewing Co., Youngstown.

ABV: 7.5 percent.

Spices: Cinnamon, vanilla.

Marc says: In the past this has been a vanilla bomb, which set itself apart from other holiday ales on the market. This year dry spices dominate too much for my taste.

Rick says: The overwhelming vanilla flavor has been replaced with an overwhelming cinnamon flavor. If you enjoy Red Hots candy, this is the beer for you.
