MEDINA, Ohio -- Rick Armon of the Akron Beacon Journal and I recently sampled 18 Christmas Ales from Northeast Ohio brewers. They come in a variety of spices and flavors. Today: Winter Mischief from Lager Heads.

We'll feature them one by one Monday though Friday through Dec. 24. Consider this the holiday beer tour of December:

Beer: Winter Mischief.

Brewery: Lager Heads, Abbeyville.

ABV: 8 percent.

Spices: Honey, spices.

Marc says: Apple comes through in the aroma, but the flavor is dry spice. The finish is extremely long. You could decorate half a tree in the time it takes for this finish to disappear. Thankfully it's pleasing enough, although I don't find this as mischievous as Scut Farkas menacing Ralphie in an alley.

Rick says: A deep amber beer, drinkable, with a touch of sweetness. Not quite enough for Yukon Cornelius, but Hermey would enjoy.
