Cleveland's best cocktails: Moscow Mule, Cleveland Bourbon Sour and more drinks of the year

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland loves its cocktails. This past year, we've visited a variety of bars and restaurants around town to sample specialty cocktails and learn how to make them from the pros.

We've shaken things up at Society Lounge, 2063 East 4th St., where they shared their popular Moscow Mule recipe. District,1350 Euclid Ave., showed us their local spin on the New York Bourbon Sour and the fun only starts there.

Below is a list compiled of this year's seven top cocktail recipes.

Society Lounge, 2063 East 4th St.

  • 3/4 oz.
  • 2 oz. Watershed Vodka
  • 1 oz. Heavy cream
  • Put all liquids into a tin glass and shake with a spring for a few seconds. Pour the mixture into another glass that is partially filled with blueberries. Top off with soda water and garnish it with a strawberry.

District Cleveland, 1350 Euclid Ave.

  • 1½ oz. Cleveland Bourbon
  • ½ oz. simple syrup
  • Half a slice of freshly squeezed lemon
  • Put the mix into a glass filled with ice and shake for about five seconds.
  • Strain it into a rocks glass with new ice and slowly pour Cabernet wine on top

Around the Corner, 18616 Detroit Ave.

  • Fill the fishbowl (or glass) with ice
  • 3 oz. Pinnacle Blueberry Vodka
  • 3 oz. UV Blue Raspberry Vodka
  • Fill the bowl/glass halfway with lemonade and top it off with 7-UP soda
  • Stir the mix using a straw and serve

  • 2 oz. Four Roses Bourbon
  • ½ pure maple syrup
  • 2 dashes bitters
  • ½ freshly squeezed orange juice
  • ½ freshly squeezed lemon juice

Society Lounge, 2063 East 4th St.

  • ½ oz. of fresh squeezed lime
  • 1½ oz. of ginger syrup
  • 2 oz. of Smirnoff Vodka
  • Put all the liquids inside a tin cup and shake vigorously with ice
  • Put 1½ oz. of soda water and crushed ice into a *Moscow Mule Cup (*optional)
  • Pour the mixture from the tin shaker into the Moscow Mule Cup using a tea and hawthorne strainer to separate excess lime pulp
  • Add additional ice if necessary and top it off with a slice of lime

Luxe Kitchen & Lounge, 6605 Detroit Ave.

  • 1 1/4 oz. Tito's Vodka
  • 1/2 oz. Creme de Violette
  • 1 oz. Blackcurrant puree
  • 1 oz. Cranberry juice
  • lemon zest
  • sparkling lemonade

Urban Farmer Cleveland, 1325 East 6th St.

  • Lightly wash a martini glass with Absinthe
  • 2 oz. Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey
  • .75 oz. Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz. Strawberry rhubarb syrup
  • 1 oz. Fresh egg whites
  • Mix all ingredients into a glass and dry shake for about 30 seconds
  • Then fill the same glass with ice and shake again for another 30 seconds
  • Using a strainer, pour the drink into a martini glass and serve
