CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Decades ago, mods and rockers used to battle in notorious, bloody clashes. Now, they're riding in the same happy-go-lucky gang.

Yippee for world peace!

Gear up for the sixth annual Mods vs. Rockers -- an event that, contrary to its name, will bring together the former rivals for a weekend of music, food and bike enthusiasm.

The soiree brings together devotees of two-wheeled vehicles of all styles and stripes for a weekend of mod mania-meets-rocker rebellion.

It kicks off at 7 tonight at Porco Lounge, 2527 West 25th St., Cleveland. The bike appreciation weekend picks up at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Saschsenheim Hall, 7001 Denison Ave, Cleveland. The mods and rockers will use the spot as the starting point for a ride together.

Man, in the 1960s such an event would be a surefire recipe for a full-blown gang war -- one brought to the screen by the film adaption of The Who album, "Quadrophenia."

Now, the one-time rivals are all peachy and riding in harmony. They're even brunching together - 11 a.m. Sunday, at the Grovewood Tavern, 17105 Grovewood Avenue, Cleveland.
