CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Egads, it's almost like a time machine. Within 361 feet, you can travel two full decades.

How can I accomplish such an amazing feat, you ask?

On Friday, two bars a short stroll from one another down Detroit Avenue in Lakewood will host dance nights dedicated to the 1980s and 1960s.

At 10 p.m., that venerable goth lair known as the Chamber will roll out A New Wave '80s Dance Party. DJ Allyssa and DJ DarkNave will rewind a decade's worth of bands, from Echo and the Bunnymen to the B-52's to The Smiths, Depeche Mode, New Order and INXS.

Um, can I request some Human League - perhaps one of the most underrated bands of this era? Check this tune out:

(The first three albums are simultaneously mechanical and emotional, synth-pop par excellence.)

Cover is $3, 21 and over; $5, 18 to 20. For more info, go to lakewoodchamber.net.

The Chamber is located at 11814 Detroit, which is a one-minute walk from the Five O'Clock, which will be host Secret Soul Club soiree.

The monthly bash rolls out a jumpy mix of 1960s music, from Northern Soul to R&B to garage rock. In other words, don't expect any of this "new" stuff -- like, um, '80s music. But, hey, you might hear some Big Maybelle.

The bash starts at 10 p.m. Free. Go to facebook.com/thefiveoclocklounge/?rf=124136404324367 or Call 216-521-4906.
