CLEVELAND, Ohio – Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out the 100th Bomb Group Restaurant. Here’s a look at what to expect:
Location + hours: 20920 Brookpark Road, Cleveland, 216-267-1010. Right by Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Sunday brunch is 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Menu or buffet? Buffet.
About the place: You'll get the theme right away: This restaurant sits adjacent to the airport - close enough that a large window allows diners to see planes landing. Two mounted planes float as sentries on the grounds near the parking lot. Décor is planes and pilots throughout the large space, with photos everywhere. Specialty Restaurants Corp. owns the restaurant.
About the history: The restaurant - designed as a World War II-era English farmhouse - originally was at 20000 Brookpark Road. But runway expansion forced a three-year hiatus before it reopened in its present location in 2005.
About the buffet: Very complete. We had a crepe station, crab legs, dessert table, prime rib and full breakfast fixings. (On our visit they also had shepherd's pie.) Service is very friendly. Buffet is $34.95.
About the drinks: Waitresses come around with trays of mimosas, then come back with pitchers for refill. It's part of the buffet.
