Fleming's Prime Steakhouse in Eton Chagrin Boulevard in Woodmere has closed. The Plain Dealer

WOODMERE, Ohio - Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar's Woodmere location has closed, one of the company's two Northeast Ohio restaurants.

The restaurant, at 28869 Chagrin Blvd., is closed, but the one in Akron at 4000 Medina Road remains open.

A person answering the phone at the Woodmere location said he was not at liberty to talk about the closing and wanted to speak to the restaurant's staffers first.

As of Monday, the Woodmere restaurant was not among the reservation options on the company’s website, and a Google search shows it as being permanently closed.

The Chagrin Boulevard restaurant is less than a mile east of Interstate 271 and located in a busy commercial stretch in Eton Chagrin Boulevard.

Tampa-based Bloomin' Brands owns Fleming's, along with Carrabba's Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Outback Steakhouse - all of which have locations in Northeast Ohio.

The company also has a restaurant off Interstate 675 in Dayton.

Fleming’s specializes in a la carte dining, serves high-end steaks, and offers private rooms. For Cinco de Mayo it offered a special $100 Margarita with high-end tequila and Baccarat crystal glass, which customers could keep with the purchase.

Fleming's opened its first restaurant in California in 1998. It has 60-plus restaurants in more than two dozen states.

Its competition includes Morton’s The Steakhouse, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, The Capital Grille and Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
