CLEVELAND, Ohio – Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out Terrestrial Brewing Co.'s doggy brunch. Here’s a look at what to expect:
Location + hours: 7524 Father Frascati Dr., Cleveland, 216-465-9999. The doggy brunch takes place on the second and fourth Sunday of every month (this month it’s Aug. 11 and Aug. 25). Call to check hours.
Menu or buffet? Menu is from a food company that sets up right near the bar. On our visit Any Thyme Any Plate pop-up catering company was doing the cooking.
About the place: The Battery Park brewery is in a cool place, with Edgewater Park in its back yard, trains rolling by, and a spacious grassy area adjacent to a patio with picnic tables. You'll find a few pooch-related vendors like Social Paws and A Girl's Best Friend Bakery.
About the menu: On our visit we had five options:
• Short rib sandy is a beer-braised short rib, caramelized onion, garlic aioli, Swiss cheese, fried egg.
• Veggie sandy had mushroom, pepper, caramelized onion, cheese, fried egg.
• Avocado tomato bacon eggs benedict with open-faced English muffin, hollandaise and fried egg.
• Berries and cream stuffed French toast with strawberry and blueberry compote, vanilla cheesecake cream, fresh fruit, cookie crumble, brioche French toast.
• Ricky Bobby tacos made with shake-n-bake chicken, buttermilk waffles, hot honey maple sauce.
We tried the veggie sandy and tacos. The sandwich was a tasty melted vege amalgamation. The flavors worked well, with no ingredient dominating another. The "tacos" actually were foldable waffles that held delicious, just-spicy-enough pieces of chicken.
About the drinks: Oddly enough we couldn’t get a cup of hot coffee. The bar is stocked with Terrestrial's great beer offerings, mimosas are available, orange juice and other drinks. We sipped a nitro-infused, cold-brew coffee from My Best Friend Coffee Co. in Elyria. The label on the can has, of course, a pup.
Don’t miss: Bringing your pooch. We saw at least 15 different dogs hanging out inside the bar, out on the patio and one border collie romping with his human pal.
