CLEVELAND, Ohio – Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out Beachland Ballroom. Here’s a look at what to expect:
Location + hours: 15711 Waterloo Road, Cleveland, 214-383-1124. Hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. We're told the Saturday menu is more lunch-oriented while Sunday has classic breakfast offerings. Parking lot in back.

About the place: If you haven't been to this classic concert club before, there's a small tavern with bar and a larger, spacious ballroom. Brunch is in the tavern. A long wooden bar, classic old beer signs (remember Hamm's and Ballantine Ale?), tons of band stickers, worn linoleum floor and previously smoke-stained ceiling set the scene. There's about 15 tables set up for brunch, including a few on the stage.
About the menu: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The fried egg-topped Chilaquiles are loaded tortilla chips, beans, tofu and savory tomato sauce; chicken is an option. The egg and cheddar sandwich was served on an excellent homemade biscuit, and it came with a generous side of creamy grits that were just the right consistency. French Toast is pan-fried. A Monte Collinwood sandwich tempted, as did chicken and waffles. More than a dozen breakfast entrees top out at $12.
About the drinks: Full bar with a whole slate of breakfast cocktails, including a line of Bloody Mary variations.
Don’t miss: The biscuits will rival anyone's.
Nice touch: It's a concert venue, so there's tunes. A DJ spins vinyl during your meal. We heard an eclectic range of funk, R&B and covers. Volume is low.
