ORANGE VILLAGE, Ohio - Color is the theme this week in Pinecrest: Red, the Steakhouse opens its doors on Black Friday in Orange Village.
The steakhouse, which has a sister restaurant in downtown Cleveland and one in Miami, is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.
The East Side version of the downtown steakhouse covers more than 10,000 square feet - 8,200 downstairs, 2,300 upstairs - in the Pinecrest development. It's located across from Firebirds Wood Fired Grill.
Here are six things to know:
The look: Tastefully designed, the space takes on a modern chic look that is formal but not staid. "We wanted it to be a little different from Red downtown," said Gregg Levy, managing partner. "We introduced some more gray, modern lighting." Concentric lights hang throughout the restaurant, which has a wood-floor upstairs patio that overlooks shops, restaurants and Pinecrest's Central Park. (The downtown restaurant has three dining levels.) The L-shaped marble-topped bar can seat 16 people.
Valet: Dedicated, complimentary valet will be offered. "If you know our customers, they like that and demand that," Levy said. Free parking also is offered in a nearby covered garage and in the outdoor lot.
In the kitchen: Kyle Anderson - formerly of Marble Room Steaks and Raw Bar in downtown Cleveland and Red and Moxie in Beachwood - is executive chef.
Private spaces: Red will offer private dining spaces that can accommodate one, two or three segregated rooms for as many as 50 guests. Televisions hang throughout the space. Windows have retractable blinds and separate sound system. Also, a VIP space can be set up family-style or with another configuration. It opens to the outside near the front of the restaurant.
The food: "We're known for steaks," Anderson said. "We've got to have CAB (Certified Angus Beef )." Some menu similarities will exist between the downtown and Pinecrest Reds - signature steaks, appetizers, salads and sides - but Anderson said the team at Pinecrest will rely on feedback from guests to consider different menu items at Pinecrest. "There's no such thing as perfect food," he said. "It's not perfect until the guest says it's perfect." Dishes include lemon-garlic shrimp appetizer, stuffed banana peppers with Italian sausage, roasted cauliflower sautéed with prosciutto and, of course, Certified Angus Beef prime rib.
The future: Lunch service will begin Monday, Dec. 9. Red Pinecrest is at 200 Park Ave., Suite 130, Orange Village, 216-279-7700.
