CLEVELAND, Ohio – There's a lot going on with our weekly wine calendar, from a local wine club bottling wines, a Bourbon class set at Western Reserve Distillers and other events. Tuesday, Dec. 24: Christmas Eve. If you're still in the hunt for that special bottle or two for Christmas dinner, call your local wine shop; many wine stores and bars have abbreviated hours.

Wednesday, Dec. 25: Merry Christmas. What bottle(s) are you cracking open?

Thursday, Dec. 26: The Galaxy holds discount bottle night in the Wine Room. It's at 201 Park Center Dr., Wadsworth.

Thursday, Dec. 26: West Shore Wine Co. will feature bubbly, nectar and Port 6-8 p.m. Cost is $10 and includes six wines and food. It’s at 21629 Center Ridge Road, Rocky River. Call 216-712-6400 to reserve a spot.

Friday, Dec. 27: Alley Cat Oyster Bar will hold a Bourbon Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Five courses will be paired with five Bourbons. Cost is $50. Call for reservations, 216-574-9999. It's at 1056 Old River Road, Akron.

Friday, Dec. 27: The Olde Wine Cellar will feature the best of 2019 tastings at 5 p.m. Cost is $15 and includes samples, tasting notes and cheese. It's at 7932 Main St., Olmsted Falls. Call 440-427-1222.

Friday, Dec. 27: Urban Farmer offers select $25 bottles. It’s at 1325 E. 6th St., Cleveland.

Saturday, Dec. 28: Western Reserve Wines' final regular Saturday tasting of the year is 2-5 p.m. will be themed Something New for the New Year. Heidelberg's Rick Laning will guide the tasting of sparklers and more. Cost is $10-$15 and includes nibbles. It's at 28300 Miles Road, Solon.

Friday, Jan. 10: Heinen's will hold Barrel Fest 2020 at 6 p.m. Sample six seasonal barrel-aged beers and six popular barrel-aged red wines Cost is $25. It's at 900 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.

Saturday, Jan. 11: Western Reserve Distillers will hold an educational Bourbon class and tasting 1-3:30 p.m. Included is a flight of four to six samples. Cost is $22. It's at 14221 Madison Ave., Lakewood.

Saturday, Jan. 11: Uncorked will be held at Great Lakes Science Center 8-11 p.m. and feature more than 100 wines and Champagnes, entertainment, food vendors, exhibits and more. Cost is $50. (VIP is $65 and allows admission at 7 p.m.) Admission includes wine tasting; food is separate. Event benefits nonprofit The Adoption Network. Uncorked is at 601 Erieside Ave., Cleveland.

Friday, Jan. 17: It’s Opera Night in the Grand River Valley. “A Little Bit of Broadway” will feature estate-grown Grand River Valley wines accompanied by songs of Gershwin, Bernstein and others at 6 p.m. Includes a six-course meal and entertainment from local singers Julie Anna Gulenko and Megan Ann Slack. Thursday, Jan. 23: Red and White on Thursday Night, the annual wine-tasting fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation, is at Quaker Station at the University of Akron.

Friday, Jan. 24: Ohio Wine Producers Association, collaborating with Lauren Fiala of the Lodge at Geneva on the Lake, will hold Fire & Ice 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Plant Science Center. Tickets are $150 per couple. Includes meal, ice wines from five Northeast Ohio wineries, ice-carving demo and music. It's at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland. Saturday, Jan. 25: Ohio ice-wine tastings will be offered at Lake Metroparks Farmpark's Ice Festival noon to 8 p.m. Stroll through the displays and ice-wine carvings, then sample the wines. One-ounce samples are $2. It's at 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland.

Tuesday, Jan. 28: Gervasi Vineyard will hold a five-course Winter Steak House wine-pairing dinner 6-9 p.m. To be served: Fioretto (Sauvignon Blanc), Velluto (Pinot Noir), Lambrusco, Amarone and Moscato. Cost is $90 (club member prices, $80). Gervasi is at 1700 55th St. NE, Canton.

Saturday, Feb. 8: The third annual Wine, Cheese & Chocolate, Darling! tasting event is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Akron Civic Theatre. It features 45 wines paired with 18 cheeses and local chocolates. It’s at 182 S. Main St., in downtown Akron. Here’s more information on the event.
