SOLON, Ohio – Elle Restaurant and Lounge will hold Embracing Ukraine, a brunch fundraiser with 100% of money raised benefiting organizations that support women and children in the Eastern European nation under siege.

The brunch is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13.

The French-Italian focused restaurant, which is owned by Jay Leitson and Izzy Schachner, opened in December at 33730 Bainbridge Road, Solon.

Cost is $25. Funds raised will benefit UN Women USA and Save the Children. Both organizations raise funds to assist women and children in need throughout the world.

Organizers said a former employee who is Ukrainian inspired the event.

In a press release, Leitson said the plight of the Ukrainians “really affects me, and affects all of us. I’ve been watching the news and seeing the lives of refugees. That’s the main reason I wanted to get involved in the cause.”

Elle’s name comes from the feminine connotations of “she/her” in French and Italian.

“Our restaurant is a dedication to women,” he said. “So, we thought it was the most appropriate location.”

Staff working the brunch are volunteering their time, he added.

Reservations are required. Call 440-656-3553. Donations also are being accepted.
