Creative eats on the cheap: Scratch Restaurant

Sure, the presentation might make it seem like Scratch is a flashy, trendy restaurant. But the price of all breakfast, lunch and salad entrees clock in at under $10.

The highest-priced items are the stuffed-to-the-brim smokehouse burrito with pulled pork, scrambled eggs, salsa verde and more and the piled-high corned beef hash, both registering at $8.50. The American classic is $5.50 and the biscuits and gravy dish with three biscuits, made in house, and sausage patties is a modest $6.50.

Puddin' French Toast: Scratch Restaurant

The Puddin’ French Toast is a Scratch specialty. This recipe uses bread pudding formed into firm squares of classic French toast. It’s served with a moonshine sauce for a blend of sweet and smoky, and whipped cream house-infused with maple syrup. Throw in a savory counterpoint with its accompanying choice of sausage or pork belly.

Strawberry Shortcake Waffle: Scratch Restaurant

Scratch has its own indulgent twist on the ever-popular Belgian waffle, the Strawberry Shortcake Waffle. Waffles are cut and topped with house-made strawberry coulis and maple syrup-infused whip cream and a side of sausage of pork belly.

In the epic battle of pancakes versus waffles, maybe you’re more of a pancake type. Scratch’s pancakes are a tiramisu variety. Three hotcakes are topped with coffee liqueur reduction, chocolate ganache and vanilla mousse.

Breakfast is served every day at Scratch, but it’s not the only thing served up on the menu. There’s also a lunch menu with creative yet cheap eats like the latke sliders with shaved corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and 1000 island dressing over boxty.
