Table 45 launches December Cultural Celebration, holiday promotions (photos)

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Table 45 at the InterContinental Cleveland hotel is getting into the holiday spirit.

The restaurant has launched a series of new promotions, including a December Cultural Celebrations menu, which focuses on the traditions of Israel.

Cultural Celebrations is a monthly promotion that focuses on the cuisine of one world region. It began in October with Cuban, then traveled to Morocco for November. The December menu includes sweet-potato latkes with Mackenzie Creamery goat cheese and ginger applesauce, and grilled short ribs with horseradish and beet cream and egg noodles.

"It's not the traditional way, and we don't want it to be," says founder Zack Bruell, who crafts the menu with Table 45's chef de cuisine, Matt Anderson. "This is not what you'd find at your grandmother's table, but a modern version of that."

Kosher beers and Baron Herzog wines are also featured this month.

Anderson says each month he has consulted with staff members and others from the various cultures celebrated. "I ask them, 'What reminds you of home?,' then we work with that."

Upcoming Cultural Celebrations include the food of Portugal in January and Peruvian cuisine in March. Guests who order from the Cultural Celebrations menu will receive a passport that they can get stamped each month. Those who attend at least six times will be eligible for a World Cultural Celebration reception in July. There will also be a drawing held to win a five-night stay at an Intercontinental Hotel anywhere in the world, as well as other prizes.

Hot Chocolate Heart: Throughout December, warm your bones and heart with custom hot chocolate, prepared with steamed milk and made with your choice of five chocolate flavors, $12.

Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: Celebrate the holidays at Table 45 with a special Prix Fixe Christmas Dinner Menu. $30 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Celebrate New Year's Eve at Table 45: Join Table 45 for a celebratory three-course New Year's Eve menu and glass of sparkling wine. $50 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
