MEDINA, Ohio - Our series highlighting brunch and breakfast restaurants in Northeast Ohio has us at 111 Bistro this week:
Location: It's tucked in a small strip mall on the southwest corner of Medina Road (Ohio 18) and Windfall Road. Address: 2736 Medina Road, Medina. Brunch is served 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. (Regular hours: 4-9:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 4-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.)
What it's about: The restaurant, which opened in 2015, offers more than 15 dishes that cover all brunch and breakfast bases. Yes, you can get bacon, sausage and the like on the side and in several dishes. Some seem a bit astray for traditional breakfast (ahi tuna), some are adventurous (crab cake benedict), some are traditional (steak and eggs), others are modern spins (chicken and waffles) while some meals are traditional lunch fare (burger).
Don't miss: Almond-crusted brioche bread, banana brulee and Ohio cinnamon syrup. It's as good as it sounds and will satiate sweet fans and carb fiends alike.
Spin city: How do you spin ham and cheese? Like this - The Croque Madame Sandwich has rosemary peppercorn ham, gruyere, mornay sauce and a sunnyside-up egg on brioche with mustard on the side.
Ambiance: It won't be uncommon to see folks in the late morning / early afternoon sipping an imperial stout or Double India Pale Ale pre-gaming for football in the sleek brick-walled space. But the booths will fill with families and couples for brunch.
Speaking of: If the tap list looks intriguing, there also are half a dozen morning cocktails. In addition to the standard Mimosa and Bloody Mary you can choose from a few others, including a Poinsettia, a sparkling-wine cocktail.
