TWINSBURG, Ohio - Our brunch and breakfast series continues with Blue Canyon Kitchen & Tavern. Here's what to expect:
Location: The rustic spot is at 8960 Wilcox Dr., Twinsburg, 330-486-2583. It's tucked into the junction of Interstate 480 and Ohio 82 (Aurora Road).
Hours and cost: Sunday brunch opens at 10:30 with the last seating at 1 p.m. It's $28.95 ($14.95 for kids 8-12, $9.95 for kids 3-7, free for those under 2).
About BC: The restaurant, which has outdoor seating, has a log-cabin-type setting you might expect to find out of the pages of a Montana guide book. In fact, there are two other BCs - both in that state.
It's a buffet ... and it's got a lot. If you opt for hearty lunch and dinner offerings, this is for you. Chef-carved beef tenderloin and a raw bar are available. A separate room holds the food stations: A chicken entree, vegetables, fresh fruit, potatoes, a pastry table and more.
... and made-to-order menu: Omelets, eggs, French Toast, Eggs Benedict and pancakes can be ordered and are included in the cost. Three pancake options include a version with strawberries cooked inside them, and the French Toast was very light.
Don't miss: The pastry table offers an array of smaller-sized nibbles, including multiple doughnuts and tasty scones. And strawberries can be dipped into a not-overly sweet chocolate ganache-like glaze, for a decadent touch.
Drinks: The obligatory Mimosas and Bloody Marys are there for the ordering. Coffee is decent, but the world's heaviest tea kettle left on the table is great for the tea drinkers among us, keeping the water hot throughout the meal.
