Flour: Northeast Ohio's best weekend brunches, breakfasts

MORELAND HILLS, Ohio - Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out Flour. Here's a look at what to expect:

Location + hours: 34205 Chagrin Blvd., Moreland Hills. The restaurant is at Som Center Road and is about three miles east of I-271. And while the restaurant's forte is Italian dining, it packs a crowd for brunch on a Sunday morning (though Tagliatelle Bolognese is on the brunch menu.)

Menu or buffet? Menu.

Nearby: The quaint stone and brick facade of neighboring businesses on the corner includes Govberg Jewelers, Fringe Boutique and J3 Clothing Co.

Crazy name, tasty dish: Shagbark Spelt and Ricotta Pancakes. The 'cakes are light and really don't need syrup when you have the accompanying flavors of warm blueberry coulis, lemon whipped cream and crushed pistachios. The fruit and grain dusting is a nice contrast.

Don't miss: Eggs Benedict. Owner Paul Minnillo and chef/partner Matt Mytro do not skimp on charcuterie fixings, and the thick-sliced Mortadella that is served in the pair of egg-topped English muffins was high quality. A mild, not-too-salty slice of cured pork (what I often call high-class bologna) adds great flavor to this traditional breakfast dish. Eggs Benedict is a classic dish open to interpretations. It dates to the 19th century, with one story saying it was suggested by a restaurant patron and another saying it was requested by a hung-over financier.

Next time: Nutella French Toast with maple syrup, peanut-butter powder and strawberries tempted, but we had enough on our plates.

Seating options: OpenTable asked if we preferred low-top, bar-top or high-top tables.

Drinks: You know that feeling when you go in for tea but "Would you care for a Peach Bellini?" sounds so much better? And it was. Fruity but not sweet. Also being served: Four Mimosas are on the menu - orange, blood orange, grapefruit and pomegranate. And they are popular, judging by the stream of servers whisking by us with trays of flutes.
