Bonefish Grill: Northeast Ohio’s best weekend brunches, breakfasts

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out Bonefish Grill. Here's a look at what to expect:

Location + hours: 6150 Rockside Place, Independence, 216-520-2606. It's at the northeast corner of Interstate 77 and Rockside Road. Weekend brunch hours: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Menu or buffet? Menu.

The eats: Brunch offerings are not expansive but well-chosen. A trio of Benedicts are offered, as is a duo of omelets (Oscar and California-style), half-pound Wagyu beef and egg burger, and French Toast. The latter is Creme Brulee French Toast with Grand Marnier and orange-zest battered, served with a mountain of fresh, light whipped cream and seasonal berries. A side of Applewood bacon is included. The orange flavor on the French Toast was a delicious and unique touch.

Don't miss: The Benedicts. We tried a Filet Mignon and Lobster Eggs Benedict. You get a pair - one with steak, one with lobster - and both are delicious. Neither ingredient is a skimpy offering. Draped over the plate were several Asparagus spears shooting out from the poached eggs and the oozing hollandaise sauce.

The drinks: Bubbles brunch! Bellinis and Mimosas are $5 with brunch.

Ambiance: A strong aroma of bacon wafted outside as we walked from our car to the restaurant. Upbeat pop sounds played inside. A pair of televisions are hung over the separate bar area.

Ownership: Bonefish Grill is owned by Bloomin' Brands, which also owns Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill and Outback Steakhouse. Outback, by the way, is adjacent to Bonefish Grill in Independence.
