Creekside Restaurant & Bar: Northeast Ohio's best weekend brunches, breakfasts

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio - Our brunch and breakfast series continues as we check out Creekside Restaurant & Bar. Here's a look at what to expect:

Location + hours: 8803 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, 440-546-0555. Open 11 a.m. Monday-Saturday, with Sunday breakfast running 8 a.m.-1 p.m. It's on the east side of Brecksville Road and just north of Ohio 82. Parking lot is out front.

Menu or buffet? Menu.

About the space: Opened since 1992. Even though it's spacious with inside and outside seating, we had a wait - but only for a few minutes. It goes quickly, thanks to hostesses constantly walking around scouting open tables.

Don't miss: The view. The woods offer a natural-setting vantage from Creekside's patio. Find a nice day and go.

The eats: It covers the morning gamut. Combos include strawberry crepes, a rare find on menus. We tried a delicious one, with vanilla filling and fresh strawberries. Four types of waffles are offered (though the banana split waffle's accompanying pineapple topping wasn't anything to write home about and the banana was way under-ripe. It was our only miss of breakfast.). Six savory items are all hearty, including hamcakes - pancakes mixed with Applewood smoked ham, scallions, cheddar cheese and topped with Cajun butter. Five pancake options include tempting lemon ricotta blue cakes with ricotta cheese and blueberries. Four breakfast meats are available - bacon, sausage links, turkey sausage patties (very tasty) and Applewood smoked ham. With very few exceptions, everything is under $10.

Eggsactly the way to go: A dozen omelette creations include a create-your-own with 20 ingredients to consider. The list even has "lasagnomlette" - Italian sausage, beef, provolone and ricotta cheese.

Unique: Coffee Cake French Toast is exactly what it sounds like, and was amazing. Meant for carb lovers with a sweet tooth.

For sale: Fresh-baked cinnamon bread is sold on site near the hostess stand.
