Cleveland Heights’ Marquise Davis is the cleveland.com Offensive Player of the Year: 2023 all-area football

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Marquise Davis had just rushed for 228 yards on 21 carries, scored four touchdowns and had two interceptions to fuel a 46-21 win for Cleveland Heights in a season opener at Berea-Midpark, and coach Mac Stephens wondered if he needed to cut back on Davis’ workload.

“We probably gave him the ball more than we really wanted to,” said Stephens, who also valued Davis’ defensive ability as an All-Ohio safety the previous year, “but he just kept making plays, so we didn’t have a choice.”
