CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 22-year veteran of the Cleveland police department faces a felony charge after he brandished a gun while drinking alcohol at a Tremont bar, records show.

Sean P. Gorman, 49, was arrested Wednesday on a charge filed after the Nov. 24 incident at the Clark Bar on Clark Avenue near West 12th Street, according to Cleveland Municipal Court records.

Gorman was suspended without pay pending adjudication of the case, Cleveland Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

He is charged with possessing a firearm in liquor permit premises.

Gorman drank "several alcohol beverages" the night of the incident, reports show.

Officials did not release other details.

The police department's Integrity Control unit investigated the allegations before charges were filed, Ciaccia said.

A Cleveland Municipal Court judge granted Gorman a personal bond. He waived a preliminary hearing, and the case was bound over to a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court grand jury.

Cleveland.com has requested a copy of Gorman's personnel file.
