RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a man shot dead Sunday night by a Richmond Heights police officer.

Carlumandarlo Zaramo, 46, was killed about 7 p.m. at a Geraldine Avenue home after shooting an officer there.

The officer was listed in serious but stable condition on Monday morning, police said.

Four officers were sent to the home when police received a report that Zaramo was threatening suicide, Police Chief Gene Rowe said at the scene Sunday night.

Zaramo let two officers inside the home and eventually agreed to leave with the officers to get help at University Hospital Richmond Medical Center.

Zaramo and the officers went to a room upstairs so he could get some clothes when Zaramo grabbed a gun and shot one of the officers in the chest, police said.

The officer was not wearing a bulletproof vest, Rowe said.

The other officer shot Zaramo, who died at the home.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting police with the case.
