Record high temperatures in the Cleveland weather forecast

We may break record for longest period without snow

A heavy coat won't be necessary Wednesday in the Cleveland area ... even a light coat might stay on the hanger as temperatures are expected to reach the upper 60s.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- If only the weather would be this nice at the Indians home opener on April 4.

That's when there probably will be 10 inches of snow on the ground.

As for now, two days before Christmas, there is no snow to be found. If there are any remnants, today should take care of it.

Forecasters are calling for a high of 66 today in Cleveland, more than 30 degrees above normal and exceeding the record of 61 set in 1933. Along with the warm temps will be chances of showers and cloudy skies.

After overnight lows in the 50s, Tuesday's high will be 59, which won't threaten the record of 65 set in 1964. It's still well-above normal, but clouds and showers again are in the forecast.

By Christmas Day the high will drop to a frigid 50 degrees ("frigid" being relative to the previous few days). It will be mostly cloudy with slight chances of showers.
